It’s that time of the year when buff bodies and perfect tans come out in full force. Unfortunately, it’s also the time when millions of women begin the annual chore of tweezing, waxing and other absurd routines and activities in the futile attempt to eliminate unwanted hair. From that not-so-flattering peach fuzz to absolutely unsightly unmentionables, hair removal is an essential….but dreaded…summer tradition.
Fortunately, it’s now possible to stop fighting with painful and ineffective hair removal techniques with the use of an at-home hair remedy that gets to the root of the problem – literally! Once available only in select salons, laser hair removal is now easy, effective and oh-so affordable it will leave you wondering how you ever managed without it! Lasers provide the look you have been searching for at a price you can finally afford. Keep reading to learn how you can obtain great results at a fraction of the cost.
Better Results
It’s easy to understand why women of all ages are attracted to the idea of an at-home hair removal system that is easy, affordable and effective for long term hair elimination especially when considering the alternatives (or lack thereof). Just compare the common problems and pitfalls associated with other methods:
How it Works
Laser hair removal may sound a bit intimidating but nothing could be easier. Products like the Silk’n Hair Removal Device use light or optical energy that travels along the shaft of each individual hair to stop the production of new hair. The result is ultra smooth skin without the stubble, razor burn or need for constant attention associated with inferior methods. In a process known as selective photothermolysis, optical energy disables hair growth by allowing the hair shaft to absorb light energy which is then transformed into heat. By using the pigment of the hair itself, the light is able to travel the full length of the hair where it penetrates the root of the hair follicle. Because heat reduces the production of new hair, long term hair removal and soft smooth skin is the final result.
Safety & Satisfaction
Laser and light based hair removal has been clinically proven to be safe and effective for the elimination of unwanted hair; in fact, it’s been used for over fifteen years by top dermatologists and salons around the world. Even more importantly, the technology has now advanced to the point that it is affordable for home use – with the added convenience of being able to accommodate almost every skin type. No need to fight traffic or squeeze in a visit during tight schedules; simply determine when the time is right to begin your own hair removal sessions in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Benefits Almost Everybody
Although almost everybody can benefit from the convenience, cost savings and smooth skin afforded by an at-home hair removal system, there are a few special considerations to keep in mind.
Peach Fuzz – It might be cute on a baby but facial fuzz and fine hairs covering ones belly or other areas of the body are downright embarrassing. Unfortunately, peach fuzz isn’t easy to eliminate in part because it is so fine that it tends to “hide” from most light removal systems….until now. Today, thanks to Meladine all natural melanin enhancer, it’s possible to simply spray on a solution of Meladine to prepare skin for laser hair removal later. When used as directed, Meladine has been found effective in removing peach fuzz with laser products like the Silk’n hair removal device rather than resorting to painful tweezers or waxing.
Fair Hair – Those with blonde, gray or even white hair have often find it hard to use laser hair removal systems since they target naturally occurring melanin in the hair follicle; because fair hair tends to contain less pigment, it’s necessary to use a product like Meladine to penetrate hair follicles and embed them with color without staining the surrounding skin.
Face & Neck – Avoid using Silk’n on sensitive skin surrounding the face and neck or after recent sun exposure or tanning.
Fitzpatrick Skin Types VI & VII – Because laser hair removal systems like the Silk’n device work by targeting pigment follicles, persons with dark skin tones or tanned skin may not be an appropriate candidate. Failure to comply with proper skin tone recommendations could result in burns, blister or skin color changes
How to Use
Using an at-home laser device like the Silk’n is simple and straightforward. Use these quick tips to start your own at-home session for ultra smooth skin:
Read & Review – If this is your first experience with an at-home laser hair removal device or you have never received a light based treatment before, allow yourself more time to become acquainted with the product. Be sure to read the quick start guide and view the video or other instructions before starting. It’s also a good idea to try out the product before beginning in earnest. There is no need to wear special protective eye equipment; just take a few minutes to get a feel for the device. A popping sound is normal when the light is activated – test it a few times to become accustomed to the sound so that it doesn’t take you by surprise.
Pre-Treat Problem Spots – Those with fair hair or other potential problem spots should plan ahead before starting their initial session. Don’t tan for several days before initiating your first treatment and consider the use of Meladine to obtain best results.
Start Slow – Use a low energy setting for the first few treatments in order to better understand how your body will respond. While on the low setting, use moderate pressure to position the applicator on the desired area of skin, then reposition as you move along. It’s natural to feel a slight tingle or warmth.
How to Buy
It’s a good idea to research the cost, effectiveness, ease of use and other important considerations prior to purchasing any at-home hair removal system. Not all systems are created equal so don’t be fooled by inferior products. Also, it’s important to keep in mind that cost alone isn’t an indication of quality or ease of use; search for a reliable product that has been tested in a home environment and has been proven effective.
For example, the Silk’n At Home Hair Removal Device has taken the light based hair removal system to a new and improved level by combing a unique acoustic technology with a proprietary and patented product that enhances photoepilation without the need to cool the skin as required by other systems. The Home Pulsed Light technology contained in the device was specifically designed to provide the same benefits you expect from a salon without the need for extensive training or the health concerns associated with commercial units. In fact, top dermatologists and plastic surgeons determined Silk’n was able to achieve excellent hair removal results during clinical trials that lasted an entire year.

I have been using the Silk’n device at home for a couple of treatments. I love it! I have a German heritage and with that comes HAIR. I have hated it forever. It has been too expensive for me to have the treatment done at a salon. This was an answer to prayer. I noticed a difference after one treatment. I wanted to make sure it was really working so I put it to the test. I did an experiment by first only using Silk’n on my right leg. After a couple of days of hair growth I asked my boyfriend to feel each leg and tell me if he felt a difference. He did!!!! He said that my right leg felt less hairy.
I have also used it on my “happy trail” and am ecstatic by the results!!
I have loved this so much that I have to tell everyone.
hairlessly your’s,

Do you know if laser hair removal is safe to do on your eyebrows, or might there be a risk getting too close to the eyes? (Would sure beat the chore and pain of tweezing!)
Hi Sally,
I would not suggest using an at-home hair removal laser device on the brow area. Your right in that there is a definite risk of getting to close your eye and the at-home lasers can be very warm. Wouldn’t it be great to never have to pluck again though?
Professional electrolysis is best for shaping brows and professional laser hair removal is excellent for correcting uni-brows and coarse hairs. Always consult with a medical professional who has a lot of experience in the area of laser hair removal and/or electrolysis before making a decision!
