My skin tends to get very dry particularly in the cold winter months. Daily bathing seems to only exacerbate the problem, leaving my skin raw, red and sometimes even itchy. I try my best to avoid regular soap or heavily perfumed body washes and cleansers, but I’ve had a difficult time finding any that don’t still feel like they are leaving something behind on my skin.
I recently switched to using DERMAdoctor Born to Be Mild medicated face and body cleanser and it has truly made all the difference. This incredible, therapeutic, soap-free cleanser contains two percent Pyrithione Zinc (the same ingredient used in dandruff shampoos) to control skin itching, irritation, redness and flaking. It is completely free of irritating dyes and perfumes and the gentle cream foams up into a rich, soft lather, making it great for shaving, which further irritates my dry skin. I love that I can use one product for my face and body with the same great results.
Pyrithione zinc dandruff shampoos are often used by dermatologists as an “off label” treatment for helping control skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, dermatitits, psoriasis and eczema; but Born to be Mild cleanser is a great substitute and has been clinically proven to be as gentle and mild as doctor-recommended Cetaphil cleanser.
The idea of “dandruff” on your face sounds odd, but dandruff is simply Seborrheic Dermatitis. Pyrithione zinc has been medically proven to kill yeast that live upon the skin and drive this and certain other dermatologic conditions. Continued use creates an environment hostile to their regrowth and keeps skin looking clear and healthy.
Born to be Mild helps eliminate the problem without irritating the skin. I usually follow cleansing with a good exfoliation for even better results. DERMAdoctor KP Duty Scrub goes a step further to both physically and chemically exfoliate my body, particularly in areas where severely dry skin (and even keratosis pilarsis “chicken skin”) appears, such as the backs of my thighs and arms.
Now, when I emerge from the shower, my skin is soft, smooth and comfortable. A good slathering with DERMAdoctor KP Duty moisturizer “seals the deal” so to speak. At night, I use Born to Be Mild cleanser again to remove the makeup and dirt that has built up on my face throughout the day so I can hit the pillows fresh and clean.
If the blast of winter has your skin itching, flaking and crying for help, take a walk on the “mild side” with Born to Be Mild cleanser and you’ll feel the difference right away.

Hello,
Here is a link to a page of products on DERMAdoctor.com specifically for Psoriasis http://tinyurl.com/2g56ebm. If the problem persists to the point in which you are loosing large amounts of hair I would definitely see a physician. Lupas can cause hair loss, though it is usually only temporary (but still scary I am sure). Good luck to you!

Hi Judy,
Stress-related eczema is very common and sounds like what you may be dealing with. The symptoms include: itching, dry flaky patches of skin, bumps, cracked skin and in some cases even weeping areas on the skin. There are several creams on the market such for eczema such as DERMAdoctor’s KP Duty moisturizing therapy http://tinyurl.com/d522pv. It never hurts to get a second opinion as well!
